Eden caught his eye while she was playing cards in a roughneck bar. Eden is an educated classy woman. Sam the snake is a rough bounty hunter. Two unlikely people find passion in a rough world. After the murder of her 1st husband Eden was bent on revenge Sam just wanted to keep her safe and out of trouble.This was a great story with smooth character development. The story begins with Sam seeing Eden at the tables and he just can't get her off his mind. When Sam's first attempts to get Eden to realize his rough but loyal charm fail he persists until their passion just took over. Eden fought it in honor of her dead husband but Sam earns her respect. The author did a great job showing the tough and vulnerable sides of each of these characters. We get an Idea of where they came from and why they are headed in the direction they are going.
The story is great I would recommend to anyone who likes spicy historical westerns and rough cowboys.

This book has a lot of heat and it really bring it on. Enjoyed reading this book and it was worth the money.
5 Stars for an exciting and seductive tale of the old west. I loved how she brought to life her characters and the vivid descriptions of their love making left me breathless. Great read you,'ll not be disappointed.
Enjoyed all the books about the McCallisters. Some weren't long enough.
Another wonderfully spicy historical western romance from a very talented author. Eden Pace is a gambler and is on the trail of the notorious outlaw Ansell Black who was behind the death of her husband. Eden uses her skill as a high stakes poker player to draw Black out of hiding. To her dismay she instead draws the possessive attention of Sam "Snake" MacAllister, a rough and ready bounty hunter.
Sam rides with his bounty hunter cousins, Deacon and Charlie "Wolf" MacAllister who were featured in Wolf's Tender. Eden has a bounty on her head and falls into Sam's ready hands.
Eden was a single minded, fiesty, determined, independent heroine and she certainly led the very possessive Sam a merry chase.
Sam is a rough man who has his limitations and is aware of them, but he is certainly up to the task of protecting Eden and keeping her safe from her own folly. I liked the gentle humour of Sam as he carefully thought out how best to deal with Eden and her quest for vengeance.
This book is no different to any other historical western written by this author. Excellent characters, a wonderful heroine and a strong hero. Enough "heat" between the major characters to keep it interesting. I particularly enjoyed meeting up again with characters from earlier stories. If you enjoy spicy historical westerns then this book is well worth reading.
Samuel (Snake) McCallister felt it ignite he saw the lady poker player. Eden Pace sensed him the minute he came in the room. From the moment they met the fire was consuming. Now let's add to the mix the murder of her husband. This is one of the best Eclipse Heat. Enjoy!
I grabbed this one when she was running it for free, and if I had known what I was missing, I would have gladly bought it! It's one of the best books I've read in quite a while. The writing is superb, the story grabbed me right from the start and kept me glued to the pages until the very end, and I fell in love with the characters. I'm a little bummed that I joined this series in the middle, but I'm going to grab the ones I've missed and start over at the beginning because I loved this one so much! Gem Sivad has definitely been added to my list of favorite authors.
I liked this tale of a woman gambler in a time when the world was unfairly pitted against women. Gem Sivad weaves a story of determination and strength mixed with hot sex and a hotter hero that had me coming back for more, even when the hero pissed me off. One of the sweet details was Snake is a bad-ass bounty hunter and feared throughout Texas. But he can't read and is pretty convinced he's book stupid. It was a nice detail to make him human. I was there with the characters, in every trial and event, and it was worth the read.
